People living in Metropolitan cities are more prone to Diabetes than people living in villages. Lifestyle plays a major role in this. It can be well managed with Ayurveda and daily lifestyle changes in a holistic manner.
One of the classifications of Diabetes is Apatya Nimitaja Prameha or Dosha which is nothing but Diabetes caused due to bad food eating habits or a very very unhealthy lifestyle followed by many people, especially the working category ones.
Leading a Sedentary Lifestyle, where over intake of milk products, refined sugars in any form whether is sweets or chocolates or caffeine foods, consumption of alcohol, excessive sleep, stress, routine change in day and night, and eating animal foods, etc will increase Kapha in the body which is responsible for Diabetes or Apatya Numitaja Prameha.
Also, aggravated Vata dosha too is responsible for diabetes. So, an imbalance in Vata and Kapha doshas results in a diminished Agni in the body which causes depletion of dhatus in our body. When such imbalance occurs, we tend to eat more sweets, feel drowsy, feel sweaty, frequent urination, etc can be the early symptoms of Diabetes.
So to balance out this, we always need to consume Kapha pacifying foods like consuming millet, eat less polished foods, reduction in consumption of junk foods, consume low gluten wheat like Khapli or Emmer wheat, Ragi, Jowar, Bajra, Black rice, Red rice, etc rather than consuming regular wheat.
Also, the consumption of certain herbs like Neem, Amla, Guggulu, Turmeric, Bilva, Jamun, Karela, Cinnamon, Aloe vera, Arjun chaal, and Haridra is all extremely good for Diabetes.
Living a carefree life but with a proper lifestyle, diet management with lots of physical exercises can regulate the levels of diabetes.
